Prompt:
Rotor Technologies contracted me to create a series of renders to use as media on their website. This included the helicopter, 5 liveries, isometric mission scenes, animation, and ground control station (Mercedes Sprinter van).Â
Additionally, they required a 1:1 scale 3D model of their helicopter to use in an in-house video game for pilot training.
Note: While the tools and methods used were heavily focused on 3D modeling, since the renders and model were purely for illustrative purposes, I consider this project to fall under Graphic Design rather than product design or engineering.
Process:
After collecting all reference images and setting milestones, I started the project by utilizing blueprint images of the helicopter to begin 3D modeling to create an accurate model.
1 week after modeling, the helicopter was completed so I moved on to UV unwrapping the model to create a new template, so I could start designing liveries and create custom materials for the helicopter.
Once all liveries were completed, I sent off a series of 5 views per livery for review with the CEO and Creative Director of Rotor Technologies. After approval, I then started the next milestone, creating isometric scenes and an animation of the helicopter flying.
At the end of 1 month, all renders and media were created and approved, 1 animation, 4 isometric mission scenes, and a total of 20 individual helicopter renders.
Result:
All deliverables were sent on time and utilized on their website within the following days.
The result was a cohesive collection of renders and digital assets on Rotors' website, which honed in their visual and product identity
